Inside the current location (Click around to

This building was in use for close to 100 years, closing in the mid 1950's. Over this time, there were a
few changes to the building. The Town of Otis Historical Commission is planning to restore the building to
the final use period. This is really rare
- a one room schoolhouse in use in the 1950s, still without plumbing & heated by a wood stove. This
building has an attached outhouse (one for boys & one for girls) that we hope to restore (perhaps with a
composting system).
This was not part of the original structure, but added possibly in the 1920s. Also, the main entry & cloak
room were added, as can be seen by the change in the door saddle. We are lucky enough to have members of
our community
who were students at this school, including Bill Dyer who led the idea of the town restoring this
treasure. We hope to have the building open to the public & for use by our school as a living museum.
